Nearly 1.7 thousand hectares of industrial zones in Kiev will be redeveloped into residential areas

In Kiev, on the site of industrial and communal-warehouse areas will create multifunctional areas with public spaces and centers, as well as enterprises with modern technologies.

This was reported in the communal organization “Institute of the Master Plan of the city of Kiev.”

“Such a development of Kiev’s production territories fully complies with the parameters characteristic of modern European cities. It also provides for the reorganization of abandoned industrial zones into enterprises with the latest technology, the development of a system of public centers and public spaces,” said Sergey Bronevitsky, head of the communal organization.

According to him, the transformation of industrial areas near the center into multifunctional areas is an opportunity for the city to reduce the so-called pendulum migrations on working days, because in addition to new housing, there will also be trade establishments, office areas of small companies, new public gardens, and pedestrian alleys.

Bronevitsky noted that according to the new General Plan of Kiev, it is planned to reprofile almost 1.7 thousand hectares of territories for public multifunctional, residential multi-apartment buildings, landscaping and engineering and transport infrastructure in industrial areas: Podolsk-Kurenevsky, Dneprovsky, Nikolskaya Borshchagovka “,” Nyvky “,” Otradny “,” Telichka “,” Resurrection “,” Darnitsky “, in the industrial zones” Korchevatoe “and” Pirogovo “.

“All this in the future will improve the quality of life in neighboring residential areas and improve the ecological situation in the city. Multifunctionality is the key to sustainable development, when the reduction of one of the functions of the district does not mean its general decline,” added Bronevitsky.
